1   What would you like to do if you weren’t working in the wine industry?

Swinging spanners for a competitive dirt based race team.  Drinking plenty of wine (not at the same time of course swinging spanners and drinking wine…).

2   What do you love most about your job and why?

The sheer diversity, always challenging, never boring, always rewarding, meeting great folk from varied walks of life.

3   What was your first car?

A 1976 RA23 Toyota Celica – Pretty sure the stereo I put in it had more output than the two litre motor pushing the car (rather slowly) along.  Wish I still had it now…ah the memories…

4   What grape variety or wine style most interests you at the moment?

Barbera – trying to tame the acid.

5   What are you listening to at the moment?

Spotify – The Hilltop Hoods – ‘Walking Under Stars’

6   What is your favourite dish to cook?

Anything BBQ’d or tomato based pasta dishes.  Simplicity is the key as I am no good in the kitchen when I’m hungry.

7   What is your idea of perfect happiness?

A little clichéd yet family, friends, vino and nice tucker.

8   When you’re not working what do you like to do?

Ride (or try to) my WR250F dirt bike.

9   What is your greatest extravagance?

(as above)

10   What are you reading at the moment?

‘How to be like Mike – Life lessons about basketball’s best’ by Pat Williams.

11   What is your favourite city/country to visit and why?

At the moment it is Santa Monica as my little sister lives there with her hubby.  Loving exploring California with the fam and working on my tan…what tan?!

12   What is the most memorable wine/s you have tried?

2008 Gaja Barbaresco – Cheers to Craig Stansborough for opening my eyes to this variety.

13   Who are your heroes in real life?

My Dad – Stormy Norm.

14   What are your top 3 Barossa tips?

Get off the beaten track, see the region from an elevated perspective at sunset/sunrise (hot air balloon or Mengler Hill look out), enjoy our hero in Shiraz but get to know unsung champions such as Grenache and Mataro.

15   What would be your chosen superpower?

Ability to multitask – not a true superpower in many people’s eyes, yet a definitive skill that I would like to harness, so it’s a superpower to me!

16   If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would you say to them?

Bruce Lee – I probably wouldn’t say a great deal, yet try to promote discussion on life philosophies and conditioning of the mind and body.

17   If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?

Wife, little Fritz – Tiaane (daughter) and our trusty dog Mika.

18   If you died and came back as a person or thing, what would it be?

Driver of a 410 Sprintcar.

19   What makes the Barossa special to you?

True sense of community, preservation of the past with an eagle eye on evolution for the future.

20   What is your motto?

Life’s short – Live large
